Anxiety and Stress
Stress and anxiety are related. Stress is tension associated with a specific event (e.g. a test or a job), while anxiety is a non-specific worry about the future. Or the past. To find relief, people with anxiety may turn to repetitive routines, preoccupations, or addictions.
Symptoms can range from annoying to paralyzing and is the most common diagnosis. Again, reaching out is key so pick up the phone. Why struggle alone?
Arguments
Conflict resolution is an important part of any relationship. Conflict plays a vital role in allowing two people to reconcile differing needs. When conflict is handled poorly, it causes distress in the relationship. Patterns develop and repeat… the resulting despair is often a trigger to begin therapy.
It’s an Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) specialty so welcome to my world.
Depression
People who struggle with depression often feel down for extended periods. You lose interest in activities that you once found pleasurable. You might feel sad, worried, anxious, stressed, indecisive, gloomy, irritable, forgetful, overwhelmed, hopeless, helpless, isolated or have a lot of “who cares?” and “why bother” thoughts.
Depression negatively affects millions of Americans each year. Often, it’s a normal reaction to extreme life stressors. Or it can be genetic. But it’s almost always resolvable. Reaching out can be the hardest step but you are not alone so give me a call.
Communication
Feeling accepted, safe and understood is what allows couples to deeply share one another’s lives. Often, couples struggle with communication issues, which actually mask deeper relationship issues. With EFT, we will look at relationship patterns, cycles and habits. With respect, safety and patience we will unpack and discover the pathways back to secure attachment. Secure attachment a biological imperative…of course we all want that…we’re mammals. :-)
Trauma
Experiences that overwhelm, shock, hurt or scare you can leave you feeling stressed, depressed, anxious, distrustful and avoidant. Trauma is the combination of fear and freeze. Please know that healing is possible and that having a safe person or community to work with is important. And normal. And healthy. And available.

You have been such a rock and so supportive through all this journey. While I have a few ideas, who could say where S. and I would be without you. M.B.
